SF8040R 12kW Large-Format Fiber Laser Cutter Installation in the USA

SENFENG recently completed the installation and commissioning of an SF8040R 12kW large-format fiber laser cutting machine in the United States. The project included machine assembly, electrical and piping connections, safety component installation, system commissioning, cutting parameter adjustment, and operator training.

R Series Laser Cutter

Throughout the installation process, SENFENG after-sales engineer Mr. Liu provided on-site technical support and worked through each stage of machine setup and commissioning to prepare the equipment for daily production.

Machine Wiring and Initial Installation

Aug 31–Sep 2, 2026

The installation began with the organization and connection of the machine’s main electrical and signal lines. The work included power and signal connections for the laser source and chiller, water piping, display wiring, and other electrical components.

The engineer also coordinated the power connection requirements with the on-site electrical team to ensure that the machine’s electrical system could be properly integrated with the facility’s power supply.

Additional mechanical installation work was carried out during this stage, including the protective enclosure, sheet-metal components, coolant filling, and cable carrier arrangement. These preparations established the foundation for subsequent power-on testing and machine commissioning.

Large-Format Machine Assembly and Safety Components

Sep 3–4, 2026

With the primary electrical connections in place, installation continued with the machine’s large-format structure and surrounding components.

The engineer assembled the full beam enclosure and installed internal sheet-metal panels, lighting, the beam light curtain, and monitoring cameras. These components were integrated into the machine to support both daily operation and workplace safety.

The machine was then powered on for initial functional checks. System commissioning and configuration were carried out step by step as the installation progressed.

System Commissioning and Cutting Tests

Sep 7, 2026

The SF8040R underwent power-on testing to verify the operation of the main machine systems.

The engineer then began cutting parameter commissioning based on the material processing requirements. Initial cutting trials were performed with oxygen, achieving good cutting quality.

These tests provided a basis for further optimization of cutting parameters and preparation for additional processing applications.

Cutting Head Setup and Equipment Configuration

Sep 8–10, 2026

The next phase focused on the cutting head, machine wiring, and remaining mechanical components. The cutting head cables were checked and reinstalled, while the remaining sheet-metal parts were fitted to complete the machine assembly.

A magnetic shielding component was also installed as part of the electrical commissioning process, followed by further testing and calibration.

The worktable and machine cart were subsequently installed. The SF8040R is a large-format cutting machine capable of supporting special tube-cutting applications, so the related configuration was completed according to the intended processing requirements.

Comprehensive Operator Training

Sep 11, 2026

After the primary commissioning work was completed, the engineer conducted on-site training for the machine operators.

The training covered the machine’s overall structure, operating procedures, startup and shutdown sequences, software functions, cutting parameter adjustment, production workflow, routine maintenance, and safety requirements.

The operators quickly became familiar with the machine controls and operating procedures. Hands-on practice was incorporated into the training, allowing them to apply the operating instructions during actual cutting exercises.

Final Installation and Production Verification

Sep 14–15, 2026

The final stage of the project involved completing the remaining installation work and carrying out production-oriented cutting verification.

The engineer finished installing the remaining worktable components, exhaust fans, exhaust outlets, and associated wiring. A final inspection was performed to confirm that the machine components and supporting systems were properly installed.

The SF8040R then underwent a final cutting test. The machine completed the test successfully and delivered satisfactory cutting performance. With the installation, commissioning, cutting verification, and operator training completed, the SF8040R 12kW large-format fiber laser cutter was ready to support the customer’s metal fabrication applications in the United States.
